Let Sleeping Dogs Lie
THE MATRIX

This is a high speed high-tech sci-fi action film dealing with the search of one man by a small rebel force to save the human race from mechanical beings. The Matrix is the computer program that Neo (Keanu Reeves) must infiltrate with the help of Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) in order to right the way of the world.

The future is depicted as dark and conspiratorial where once again technology does in mankind. I tell you if we don't look out for those computer programs starting now, we are going to have hell to pay in about a thousand years or so.

This is a very big movie with top-notch stunts. But perhaps more important than that is the unique intricate story that is unveiled. Thank goodness the writers and director saw fit to actually help the audience along by explaining what is going on to Neo. Otherwise, trying to guess at what's reality over a dream state or in this case, virtual reality, could be rather confusing.

I thoroughly liked the film despite the dark storyline and equally dark imagery. The flying Kung Fu sequences that Reeves was so thrilled to be doing real were exciting to watch, although the sound track was blisteringly loud. I had to regain my equilibrium upon leaving the theater.

Reeves does play the action figure very well even though after the movie "Speed" he was disinclined to do action films again. Fisburne is forceful throughout.

Lotta says this is a top notch sci-fi/action film; very violent though but what do you expect when you have to save the world.
