Sylvester Stallone has the perfect vehicle for himself in Avenging Angelo, a hilarious action comedy where he plays a mobster’s bodyguard.

Frankie (Stallone) spends his days protecting Angelo (Anthony Quinn) and surreptitiously keeping an eye on Angelos’s grown daughter Jennifer (Madeleine Stowe) who was given up for adoption at birth and doesn’t know who she really is. When the old man gets bumped off, it’s up to Frankie to deliver the sad news to her while continuing to keep the woman out of harm’s way. That’s no easy trick since Jennifer has a hard time coping with her newfound mafia affiliation, Frankie’s constant interference and the slew of goons shadowing her every move.

Lotta says: This is one of Stallone’s best roles ever. He gives an often subtle yet totally amusing performance; Stowe’s funny and sexy and the script is filled with hilarious dialogue and shenanigans. The romance that develops is wholly believable. I loved this film! R – for language and sexual content – but there is absolutely nothing offensive here.
