Love Letter, The

2 bone dog

A mysterious love letter falls into the hands of book store owner Helen (Kate Capshaw) and her life is never the same again.

This lovely film takes place in Loblolly-By-The-Sea, a quaint town where everyone knows everyone else’s business (of course).

But Helen’s letter doesn’t stay private for long. Soon, other people in the town come across it and believe it’s been written for them. It sets off emotional roller coasters for a few and relationships that should never have been for others.

The story centers around divorced, single-mom Helen who has an affair with Johnny, a 20-year old summer helper in her shop, while old friend George, the town’s only fireman, (Tom Selleck) pines away for her.

It’s a light-hearted story well played and the summery setting of this seaside town is certainly fitting for what ends up being the kind of summer love affair some in the audience may have experienced or wished they had.

Also appearing: Ellen Degeneres, Tom Everett Scott, Julianne Nicholson, Blythe Danner, Gloria Stuart. Geraldine McEwan.

Lotta says cute film.
